Wehby's of Braidwood

Wehby's was founded in Braidwood in 1912 by Anthony George Wehby and his wife Faredeh.

The orginal store was at No. 68 Wallace Street, Braidwood. In 1933 the store moved to No. 72 Wallace Street from where it traded as a General Store carrying many lines of clothing, footware, manchester, grocery, hardwear, paint, produce, etc., which was sold and delivered throughout the Braidwood district - at this time the store was managed by Deab and May Wehby, and joined by Jack Wehby after the Second World War.

From 1965 till 1993 the shop trade as a general drapery, clothing, manchester and footwear shop under the managership of May, Deab and Rose (Mrs. Deab Wehby nee Melkie).

When the business closed in 1993, it was Braidwood's senior business having traded continuously for over 80 years.
